Janelle Bradshaw. Trumpet. Bold, soulful, sassy, sweet, warm, cool, conforming, creative. For Janelle, performing means collaborating with other musicians to offer music of the highest quality for the enjoyment of the listener. It means embracing the style, form and technical skill necessary to produce music that reflects the intentions of the composer and the creative artists. There is nothing like love as a motivating force. That love of music has compelled Janelle to continue pursuing music across time and genre – and most recently, to become dedicated to jazz and improvisation. Largely self-taught, yet coached and influenced by many superb musicians, Janelle courageously took to the stages of the Finger Lakes to perform in open mics, jams and small music festivals. You may have heard her perform with the Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra, the HWS Community Wind Ensemble, The MLK Jr Memorial Gospel Choir, Standard Time Jazz Sextet (Ithaca), The Nines All Female Jazz Sextet (Syracuse), Seneca Brass Quintet, Seneca Falls Community Band, as a soloist in local churches, as a sub in the Auburn or FLX Symphony Orchestras, as a player or leader of groups for fundraisers, or as a performer in local jazz jams at Fall St Brewing.
Founder of FLX MUSIC 247, Janelle promotes all Live Music events in the central Finger Lakes and offers an up-to-date, easy to use, searchable calendar for local residents and area visitors (
flxmusic24.com). This site puts thousands of live music events in one place so they can easily be found by music lovers!
An integral founder of The Geneva Jazz Festival – Scott LoFaro Celebration, Janelle has been a driving force to bring national, regional and local world-class artists to the heart of the Finger Lakes. Currently in its 4th year, the festival, with support from local venues and sponsors, has presented over 40 concerts representing every style of jazz. A joint effort with co-founder Michael Gonzalez, the festival aims to highlight the incredible genre of jazz, feature amazingly talented musical artists, and infuse musical diversity into the Geneva music scene.
